Counselling tends to deal with immediate issues that may have arisen more recently e.g. bereavement, stress, and relationship breakdown. It can off support in times of crises or change and will promote self awareness.
Psychotherapy is a practice of deep listening and understanding. It tends to deal with deeper, more long-term issues or development that may be rooted in the past, e.g. trauma or serious mistreatment, clinical depression and anxiety where the affects of such are ongoing. It provides an opportunity to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more resourcefully towards greater well being.
A consultation session costs €30.
This is the time to ask questions about therapy, what is involved and what to expect. The therapist will ask question about your history and your present situation or issue to develop a treatment approach. The first session is important in deciding if you feel comfortable with your therapist.
After the consultation the therapy sessions are for one hour and cost €60.
